Wilda Sandy's biography of Kansas City, Missouri architect Louis Singleton Curtiss, titled , was published in 1991. Her book, documenting the talented career and colorful personal life of Curtiss (1865-1924), was the culmination of more than three years of research. This collection contains the author's research correspondence, as well as the many photographs and photocopies of documents which were reproduced in her book. Louis Singleton Curtiss was born in Belleville, Ontario, Canada, on July 1, 1865, the fourth of six children and the second son of Frances Eliva and Don Carlos Curtiss. He enrolled in the University of Toronto in 1884; it is not known whether he graduated. From Toronto he went to Paris, reportedly on a scholarship, to study architecture at the Ecole des Beaux Arts.
